The 2012 International Conference on Flexible and Printed Electronics (ICFPE2012) will be held from September 5 on Wedenesday through 8 on Saturaday at The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. This conference aims to gather and evaluate all the aspects of science, technology, and business in the fields of printed and flexible electronics (FPE) and to review emerging applications that will directly benefit from mechanical flexibility and printed processes such as transistors, photonic devices, solar cells, batteries, displays, RFID, sensors, and many others. This conference will bring together key persons from all over the world and from every sector of academy and industry in the fields of flexible and printed electronics.
Flexible printed electronics (FPE) is an attractive technology which can realize totally new electronic devices and applications: It is an innovative technology to manufacture various kinds of active electronic devices on thin and flexible substrates with cost-competitive and environmentally-friendly production methods. Flexible and printed electronics is expected to grow into 40 trillion yen market in this coming 20 years. The vast investments have started all over the world for the technological innovation. In order to cultivate these emerging technical fields, it is indispensable to achieve the followings: establishment of nano-materials such as organic, inorganic, and metal, precisely controlled printing, coating, web-handling techniques, and innovative device manufacturing concepts are inevitable. Extremely broad and profound foundation is desired in this field.
The first ICFPPE conference was held in Seoul in Korea (350 participants, 2009). The second was held in Hsinchu, Taiwan (400 participants, 2010). Following the former two conferences, the third conference, ICFPE2012, will be held in Tokyo. Due to expansion in the researches, ICFPE2012 is expected to be larger in size. As for the sectional meetings, we have added new process including high-precision coating technologies and many others, to enrich the content.
Considering the prior conference styles, ICFPE2012 is willing to expand the content into new technical field. We are aiming to contribute to the development of flexible and printed electronics.
